Canada

Research teams at the University of Guelph and the University of Saskatchewan are exploring, in partnership with corporate, non-government and Indigenous parterns, community-mine relationships in various regions of the country focusing on Northern Ontario (Ring of Fire area seen below), Northern Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories. All aspects of these complex relationships are being studied via interdisciplinary student and faculty-led research including the role of institutions, impact and benefit agreements, impact assessment processes, gender issues and comodity prices as key enablers and barriers to CSR in Canada.
